Our Re-Roofing Process
We undertake the re-roofing process with the utmost care and attention regardless of the size or scale of the work. From the initial installation of support timbers to the final insulation steps, our handpicked team will ensure nothing less than the best quality and service.
1. Support Timbers
The first step of re-roofing is to assess the current state of your roof. For those choosing to change from slate roofs to tiles, additional supporting timber may be required.
2. Scaffolding
Before any work takes place, we will erect any necessary scaffolding and ensure a skip is onsite to dispose of your previous roof. A material conveyor will also help us to do this efficiently.
3. Removal
We will then strip all existing tiles or slates from the roof before removing any battens and felt, all of which will be carefully transferred to the skip outside your property.
4. Battening & Ventilation
Once the roof area has been stripped, we will attach a breathable membrane to the rafters in place of the old felt, allowing the roof to breathe and enhance protection against water.
5. Tile or Slate Laying
After the breathable membrane and treated timber has been attached to the relevant areas of the roof, we will start to lay the slate or tile, depending on which you have chosen.
6. Roof Ridge
We will then fix the ridge using Mortar or Dry Fix. Mortar is a traditional method to help protect against the elements, while Dry Fix uses mechanical fixings to improve ventilation.
7. Insulation
Finally, we will add insulation in accordance with building regulations. Once we have finished, we’ll dismantle the scaffolding and ensure any mess or debris is put in the skip.
